Faith

Can I go to heaven?

Yes, if you are willing to repent, believe, and receive.

Repent of what?

Your sin; that is being sorry for your sin and having a desire to change.

Acts 20:21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God,
and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. [God commands (orders) everyone to repent.]

Acts 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at (over looked); but now commandeth (commands) all men every where to repent: [Repentance is necessary to receive salvation (deliverance) from hell and to go to heaven.]

2 Corinthians 7:10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

Believe what?

Believe the Holy Bible when it says that you are a sinner.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; [Believe that this death is both physical and spiritual.]

Revelations 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and
whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. [Believe that you need to obey the gospel.]

2 Thessalonians 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: That Jesus Christ is the sinless Son of God who died on the cross to pay for your sins, was buried, and was resurrected from the dead.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth (shows) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. [Believe that God loves you and doesn't want anyone to perish in hell.]

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to usward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Receive what?

Eternal life as a free gift, not as payment for doing good works.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved (from hell) through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (9) Not of works, lest any man should boast. And receive Christ as your Saviour by confessing your need to Him as the only way to be saved from hell.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. The penalty for not believing, repenting and receiving Christ and His gospel.

Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

2 Thessalonians 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

If you understand and believe these things from the Bible you can pray this prayer from your heart and God who promised to save your soul from hell, will.

Dear God in heaven,

I know I’m a sinner.

I believe that I deserve hell for my sin.

I believe that the Lord Jesus died on the cross to pay for my sin.

I believe that Christ arose from the dead and is alive in heaven today.

Dear Jesus, please come into my heart and save me from hell.

May I know in my heart that I’m saved.

Dear God, thank you for saving my soul. In Jesus’ holy name, Amen.

If you have received the Lord it would be a blessing to hear from you. People often have other questions not answered in this short lesson. If you have sincere questions about salvation please call us at (570) 672-8626.

What to do when the gospel doesn’t seem to work. When the gospel of Jesus Christ doesn’t seem to work, rest assured that there’s nothing wrong with the gospel. The fault is always in us and our lack of understanding, lack of faith or the stubbornness of our own heart.

What eternal life is not

  1. A promise to God that you’ll be good… give up bad habits, go to church, etc.
  2. “I believe in God.” A general belief in God isn’t enough. The devils believe in God too.
  3. “I believe in Jesus.” Believing that Jesus is Holy is necessary for salvation, but it’s not enough by itself. The devils know who the Lord Jesus is.

Mark 1:24 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

Luke 4:34 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.

After more than 30 years of showing people what the Bible says about being saved, I realize that many people have said a prayer, been baptized and joined churches without truly being saved. Salvation isn’t in a prayer, but in a person, the Lord Jesus Christ. God wants people to know they’re saved; not guess, hope or feel.

1John 5:11-13 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. (12) He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. (13) These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
